Eligibility

1.   A Traditional Owner representative organisation. A.   The Registered Native Title Body for a place – formally recognised under the laws of the Commonwealth, State or Territory.
B.   If there is no recognised Body, a Body that is exclusively negotiating for recognition for a place.
C.   If the right to recognition is contested, a Body representing a body who is seeking recognition on the basis that the Foundation will seek to support all Bodies seeking recognition.
D.   If no Body is currently formally seeking recognition, an Indigenous controlled organisation representing the interests and aspirations of local First Nations People.
2.   Scientists or researchers who demonstrate a commitment to scientific inquiry regarding the management, maintenance and repair of forested ecosystems. A.   A current or former employee of a tertiary education or research organisation who has engaged in scientific inquiry regarding the management, maintenance and repair of forested ecosystems.
B.   A person with a tertiary qualification or certificate in an educational discipline related to the management, maintenance and repair of forested ecosystems who has substantial practical experience in the management, maintenance and repair of forested ecosystems and has contributed to related scientific inquiry through, for example, fieldwork, surveying, and data collection and management.
3.   Founders of the Company upon its establishment, and those who financially contribute to the establishment of the Company within the first 18 months of incorporation. A.   Natural persons who contribute $150,000 or more to the establishment costs and operations of the foundation to 31 December 2025.
4.   Children and grandchildren of a Founding Member (whether or not, current or alive) will be eligible for membership under this category, and will not be required to pay any admission fee. A.   A child or grandchild of a Founding Member nominated by the Founding Member to assume their Founding Membership interest.

The Board will refuse membership of a person or organisation if of the opinion they:

  • do not meet the criteria outlined above
  • have not demonstrated academic rigor and open-mindedness
  • have engaged in conduct that is not respectful, collaborative, ethical or is otherwise inconsistent with the values and mission of the Foundation
  • there is reason to believe granting membership would put the organisation in disrepute or cause disharmony, offence or lateral violence.
